Regnak

Regnak is a fabled member of the Goliath race, a legend even before his death. He perished in a inexplicable accident only three years past, an event that is yet to be explained. As one witness, a Goliath and apparent close friend to Regnak, states it:

“Ol’ Re was in his cabin. Big place, it was, real sturdy wood. And that’s big for us, mind you. I’d always envied him that cabin… built by his grandfather, you know. Anyway, I’m going on. Point is, he was sitting in his cabin, just as peaceable as a Goliath could be. We had gone hunting earlier, see, me and him. I tell you, I knew Regnak for 10 years, never could get over the sight of seeing him hunt. He moved like wind and hunted like a wolf. He’d make a kill before I had seen the poor animal! Instincts, that what it was. Natural born, you can’t train something like that. Anyhow, anyhow… We were sitting in his cabin, having cooked the meal already, you see, a nice soup, very good after a long day’s work, and he just starts going into convulsions! One minute he was laughing at some joke or mine or another, and then there he goes, all in a fit! I was worried then, I was. I could tell you. The room… the room itself, the cabin, well…”
Here the Goliath shudders, and it is a sight to see, this hulking giant cowering from a memory
”...the room itself froze. And the air whooshed out of it. I mean, I could breathe, but, well… I don’t know how to explain it. But it felt terrible. And Regnak was shaking and he was surrounded by some sorta haze… again, can’t explain it. But dark-ish, you know, like he was a ghost. Bloody spirit magic, that’s what it was. And just like that, in an instant, he stopped! He stopped moving, stopped everything. He was just… dead.”

This account has begun much speculation on the subject, and most magical authorities agree that Regnak’s death was the cause of magical interference. From what source, or what spell, no one can agree.
Before his death, Regnak was much respected for his hunting abilities. He lived in the Kelketch Mountains, like many Goliath’s, but often wandered into the The Jagual and even beyond. His legend outgrew such limitations as race, and it is many a woodsman who dreams of having half the talent of Regnak. Some claim that he is also responsible for combating a pair of Griffons and living, even slaying one of the monstrosities. This can almost certainly be disregarded as rumor.
